weMac: TV case for All-In-One PC build
July 16, 2025
After months of searching I finally have a donor TV that I’ll use as a case for an All-In-One PC build. With the help of my family we sourced an 80s era Soviet TV called Junost C-404 at a flea market. It will be perfect for this project, because it’s large enough to house a standard mATX motherboard, power supply and an RX580 graphics card.
First part of the process was taking out the original internals to make space for PC parts. The internals made up most of the TVs approximate 14kg weight, so without them, the case got quite light. At least for now.
Next step was cleaning the case inside and out with some dish soap water. That helped to get rid of a scent that smelled like burnt electronics. Inside of the TV also had smokey residue, and washing it off made the case no longer smell toxic.
After rinsing it off with some dry wash cloths, the case finally looks fresh and ready to take in its new PC components. In the final image you’ll see a cool feature that I really wanted for the TV case – a retractable handle. It sort of reminds me of the original iMac G3, and makes the PC portable.
The display size of the case is 12 inches, which is perfect for what I’ll put in its place. There are a few options on eBay with Full HD resolution and HDMI connectivity. But that’s it for now folks, currently I’m looking into finding a donor PC for the project, so I’ll keep you posted.
